I relunctly agreed to take minutes at the August meeting. With this post, I hope to convince all that you should never nominate me secretary.
At 7:45 the meeting at Robert Robinet's was called to order.
Several announcements were made by Doug and Ronnie.
Ira has retired, and is spending more time at his supplies shop. He also invited all to attend the next meeting of the Good Time Brewers at his house next Thursday evening.
Ray mentioned the Beer event in Galveston (I have previously posted) over labor day. We were also reminded that Mark has invited us to his house on the same weekend.
We had several guests and one ex-member present.
The treasure was not present, so no changes were mentioned.
Everyone was reminded of the"Art of Beer", held on Oct 7 at the Beaumont Art Museum.
A report was made by Ray about Ron de Brew. While most of us did not go due to the quality of food and beer last year, Ray and John attended. No mention was made about improvements in either category; the highlight was there opening a keg plugged with hops, that emptied most of the contents on the floor. They also eliminated the washer contests that we usually won.
Oct 28: our big beer (Old Ale) plans were discussed. Bob - in his usual obnoxious attitude - criticized the plan offered on the Internet, and was prepared with alternatives. Eric and Dean had already talked. A committee including Eric, Dean, and Bob was assigned to develop a finial plan. Bob and Dean made contact and came to an agreement. Bob(me) now needs more clarification, but will talk with Dean. The general agreement was that we would use three systems to produce 5 gallons of high gravity beer. The current location for the brewing is at Cotten's, but several members suggested that it sould be moved to either Dean's (he will do the primary fermentation for 10 gallons, available to all members in 1 gallon portions, or Richard's, since both have cool well water and more easily accessible locations for the systems.
Next FART: Starving Marvins, Aug 27, I will try to make it.
Future meetings:
Sept 9 at Erics
Oct 14 at Guys
Nov at Raybos
