Gentlemen:
The April meeting will be at my house, 212 Tower Road in Bridge City on April 14, 2011.
A few things I wanted to bring up:
I noticed in the minutes Bob asked everyone who made a contest brew to bring 3 beers to the meeting. Thats alot of beer and everyone may not have gotten the same number of beers out of their gallon. Part of the deal when we made this beer was that everyone that took some needed to bring some to the meeting to share. You need to have 3 beers for the contest, and I was hoping we would have some beer left over to try in future years to see how it ages. The point is bring a bottle or two or three, whatever you can spare because there should be alot of different contest beers to sample.
Also on that note, if at all possible I would like this meeting to be about the contest beers so rather than having alot of discussion I was hoping we could talk about some things on here and maybe adopt some consent items to vote on at the meeting.
The things that I know we need to discuss are transporting the contest beers, National Homebrewers Day and some firm plans for the crawfish boil.
If anyone has any other issues please feel free to list them on here in advance of the meeting.
I'm looking forward to sampling the contest beers and I hope everyone else is too.
In case anyone is wondering, Divine Reserve 11, the Imperial IPA is scheduled for release on March 29.

Eric: You proposed the brewin for last August, with the club providing most of the grains. My memory is that you proposed it for entrees to KGB & St Arnolds "Old Ale" competition. I also remember opposing entering this competition, and was voted down before the brew-in. At the last meeting, as you noted, I ask everone who got almost free beer to bring their entrees and a 4th to share with the club. Present at that meeting was everyone - with the exception of you and Richard - that brewed that date. No one came forward with a different memory than mine. Have you and Richard drank most of your beers so that you have no entrees? I saved enough to enter, even though I think - and stated last summer - this is not a good competition to enter.

Bob,
Either I misunderstood you, or you misunderstood me. Since the minutes are nearly impossible to understand, its not out of the question.
The minutes seem to indicate that you wanted people to bring 3 beers to the meeting to share in addition to 3 beers for the contest. And my point was to bring a beer to share but make sure that everyone had enough beer for the contest. I guess people can bring as many of their beers as they want as long as they save 3 for the contest.
Richard and I have not drank any of our beer. Its in the same place it was when it was bottled.

Sorry for the confusion. I think I stated it right at the last meeting, but may have posted it incorrectly. Everyone who participated in the brewin should bring 3 bottles of each gallon recieved to enter and an additional one for club evaluation. I know that John said his beer was bad and Bill said his was not very good. Maybe they recieved the "Old Ale" yeast, which had a "Brett" component (sour), allowable for Old Ales. I hope John did not throw it out, and -if so-he can still enter the barley wine he won with last year (negligible difference in requirements).

Eric: The reason for bringing competition beers to the next meeting is because we will not meet again before they are due in Houston. At the last meeting, I ask all who had recieved beers from our Old Ale brewin to bring 3 bottles at room temperature for entering, and one bottle - cool, but not in an ice chest for sampling. The sample beer should be at about 50F, the temperature at which it will be judged. As you stated, we need to decide how to get the beers to Houston, and need them available for that decision. I also gave everyone at the last meeting an entry form, and written suggestions on filling out the recipe required for entry. I will bring additional forms to the next meeting at your place. I agree that we should try to keep all club business to three topics: How to get the entrees to Houston; Confirm the scheduled brewin; Make necessary plans for the crawfish boil (we will have a meeting before the crawfish boil). This will give club members time to evaluate the entrees going to Houston.

I think we are all on the same page now.
All is good.
I think if we can tighten up the minutes we can avoid these miscommunications in the future.
We need to think about some suggestions for what to brew for National Homebrewers Day so we can get a club beer for Christmas.

I don't see what your talking about the minutes clearly state how much and when to bring them and they say exactly what both of you said so your both rite. And they also say a commity was formed just for the competition

Ok I see the confusion, first the committee to take care of all this was Eric, Bob, and Dean which was voted to be taken care of on the site by Eric, the confusion was Bob has asked at a few meetings for people to bring 3 entries to the April meeting then Eric asked at the last meeting he attended for them to bring one bottle.
