The June meeting was held at Raybo's. These meeting notes were recorded by our alternate secretary who is responsible for all non-correct statements and omissions.
By my count, we had 14 members and 4 guests present (one was a former member who I don't believe has payed yet and one was an accepted new member who has not paid).
Ira called the meeting to order at 7:36 pm. The treasure's report included cost for National Homebrewer's Day and the crawfish party, both very successful. We still have money to cover the Christmas party. (No $ amounts on open web site). John collected $40 for quests at the crawfish party (2 were my guests)
Next three meetings are at the home of Mark, John, and Ira, respectively.
We recognized members who made major contributions to our very successful crawfish party. Foremost was Eric who provided a great site and went way beyond. I hope everyone contributed by not leaving Eric much to clean-up. Others were those responsible for the crawfish - Ira, Mark (and one of his sons), Richard, John, Eric C. Doug and Mark recovered the leftover tails for later use by the club. I apologize if I missed your name here.
A bus trip to Houston for a Astro game is still on. July 28 is the proposed date. Please respond by June 29 if interested (to this web site or our facebook page). Count me in. The plan is to make a stop at Southern Star brewery (Conroe) before the game and visit the pubs in the village afterward. Your cost will be only for the bus. You will have to buy your own ticket to the game (I hope someone will volunteer to try to get us together. My last baseball game I had a great view in the outfield from the many TV cameras.
The NHA club contact is no longer a member. I thought that was me, but a past president changed it to him. I will change it back to me.
On the way to the meeting, I discussed with Eric C and Richard about repeating a club event. Eric proposed that we get together and brew (maybe more than one ) a big beer from 1st running to provide all participants with a gallon (from the primary fermentation. Members with systems could still recover 5 - 10 gallons of a smaller beer. I had given this idea previous thought and have thought more about it since. I will post my proposal in a latter note on this web site. We have time to perfect this idea, with a brew date around Labor Day.
Ira reported a successful beer event in Lake Charles, with a number of club entrees. He is thinking about expanding this state wise, with events in Lakecharles, Alexandria, Lafayette, others. More info later.
The meeting was close with a KYLE beer, honoring deceased club member.
