The March 2008 Meeting of the Golden Triangle HomeBrewers was held at the home of Jason Borque in Beaumont, Texas.
The Meeting was called to Order at 7:35 by Vice President Corey Nelson.
Club News
Southern Star Brewing just finished thier third batch but it is still not ready to can. They have stated they will need volunteers shortly. A road trip was suggested.
National HomrBrew Competition: We have been moved to the newly created "Old West Region" along with Colorado and Oklahoma. Entries are due by April 11.
There will be a Pig Roust at Ira's House on March 22.
The minutes of the February meeting were read and approved. Motion Joe Kubinka, Ira 2nd. Motion Passed.
Treasurer's Report Read
16 members have paid.
Balance $717.00.
Motion by Dean, Richard 2nd. Motion Passed.
Old Business
Please submit an Inventory of Club Property to Ira if you are in possession of club property.
National HomeBrew Day:
Sach's on College was suggested as a location. Debate ensued as to this location. This location was decided as a tentative location with Barnet Florist as a backup. Corey will investigate these locations and report back. Motion by Dean, 2nd by John Cotten. Motion Passed.
Deabte further ensued about whether we need more members in the club. No action was taken.
FART Report. There was some conflict with Buffalo Wild Wings. Corey suggested some other placed such as McKenzies, Madisons, Dittos or the Vortex. Members were advised to check the website as to the status of the FART location.
Crawfish Boil.
Dean will be out of town on the original propsed date. Considerable debate as to the date and the price followed, Bob made several suggestions as to the price and how to politely collect for guests. A Motion was made to have to crawfish boil April 19 and for the club to pay $200 toward the costs with the remainder covered by donations. We will put up a sign and a tip jar with the recommended donation per person. Motion by Joe. Ira 2nd. Motion Passed.
Beach Bash will be held at Rocky's Pier at High Island the weekend of June 6. Jason is in charge.
New Business
There was some confusion over the price of our dues. Dues are $24.
A motion was made to grant member emeritus status to Dave Van Stein for his years of service to the club. Motion by Bob, John 2nd. Motion Passed.
As has been the custom in the past, Richard was exempted from dues for keeping the freezer at his house.
Mark stated the Maibock for the Rendezbrew is resting comfortably.
April Meeting will be a t Raybo's House in Vidor.
May Meeting will be at Doug's house in Nederland.
Motion to Close by John at 8:24. Honrary 2nd's Mikey and Kyle.
