I meant to post this earlier, but I wanted to post it before the next meeting. Eric has a plan for our "old Ale" brew in. If we do this, why not include a couple of extra beers. I have a recipe for Thomas Hardy Ale, one they classify as an old ale, but everyone considers it a barley wine. I also have a recipe for Teakson's Old Peculiar, a classic Old Ale. The Thomas Hardy could be brewed in a single system; the Old Peculiar could be brewed for 15 gallons, one for each of two brewers and one for a nice beer for the Christmas party.
Now the problem on how to split a club beer. My recommendation is that the person(s) responsible for fermenting, bottling, and submitting should get the major portion of the beer, with one bottle going to each club member.
For the Teakson's beer I guess that Doug or Richard would join me and get a beer each and provide a keg for the Christmas party.
To get the major part of the brew, we may suggest the recipient provide the yeast and specialty grains.
I will be going to Houston next week. I plan on picking up LME for starters, but I could also pick up yeast and specialty grains at the club discount.
We can talk about it Thursday.
