I don't care where the brew-in is. Today I got a phone message if we could do this in 2 systems. I had already calculated that alternate. Richard has 70-75 lbs of grain that the club purchased. I have 2 yeasts and all the necessary hops, and most of the additional grains. If we have a third system, we will likely brew 20 gallons of "Old Ale", with the grains Richard has, the Munic malt Dean offered (probably 2 years old but well stored), and the grains I purchased this week at DeFalgos.
We need a commitment on a third system. I have cut the grain load based on Dean's recommened primary yeast. We want to shoot for 20 gallons with a starting gravity of 1.09 - 1.10. I will develope a general recipe, but all can bring some speciality grains.
Please respond if you will be at whatever location we pick. Both Richard and Dean have locations that can handle rain and a place to put over 80 lbs of spent malt.

I want it known that I am only the technical advisor for next Saturday's Brew-in. Dean is the meister brewer. I will make suggestions, but Dean will make all decisions.

Hi all;
I also have no preference where we hold the brew-in, but it is time for a decision to be made. Let's just make it at Richard's and plan accordingly. I can bring my system. If Richard doesn't mind, I'd like to bring it by on Friday afternoon to set it up, flush it with water, etc so it will be all ready to go on Saturday morning. I will also bring my camera. What time do we plan to start on Saturday?

If anyone is interested in taking a contest brew will you please post so we can start to get a headcount. We should have at least 5 gallons of the contest brew, maybe more depending on how things go Saturday. Remember, the deal is if you take a gallon you must submit 3 bottles to next years Big Beer Brew Bash at St. Arnolds. The other 6 or 7 bottles are yours for the experience. At some point next year we could have a reunion and everyone might bring a bottle or two to share.
Those currently taking a batch are: 1. Richard/Eric 2. Dean 3. Bob 4. Mark 5. Doug? 6. John C.?
If anyone wants to team up with someone, please feel free. We want to have as many variations as possible for the contest.
REMEMBER THAT WE ARE ALSO GETTING AT LEAST TWO CLUB BEERS OUT OF THIS BREW SO PLEASE COME ON SATURDAY AND HELP. Post or call me if you have any questions.

Eric, what do we need to bring for food? Will there be a grill going? Let us know if anything else needs to be brought.

I'll probably bring breakfast tacos. Yes, the grill will be open. The usual fare will be fine for food. I'll see what I have in the freezer. Speaking of freezers, Richard just got a new one and this will be a perfect event to break it in.

Bill,
Just show up Saturday. We are going to try and make as much contest brew as possible. There should be enough to go around.
