Good afternoon. My name is Laura Ann Parks, (Steve's wife of Red River Brewing Company) and I am on the Funktoberfest Committe in Alexandria. My sole role is to round up some Home Brewers.
I am sure some of you are wondering what Funktoberfest is. Well, it is a FABULOUS outdoor venue with LOTS of craft beer, Home Brew, Breweries, and tons of music from all over.
Tipitinas Foundation supports Louisiana's irreplaceable music community and preserves the state’s unique musical cultures. The Foundation grew out of the Tipitina’s music venue, a revered New Orleans cultural icon that continues to be instrumental in the development and promotion of Louisiana music around the world. Tipitina's Foundation was established to promote childhood music education, the professional development of adult musicians, and the increased profile and viability of Louisiana music as a cultural, educational, and economic resource.
Tipitina's Foundation is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2003 that works diligently to uplift the music community of Louisiana through educational programs and musician support services. The local schools must submit an application thru The Tipitinas Foundation to be considered for the award. Last year, between Funktoberfest, our sponsors, and Tipitinas, we were able to put over 20 BRAND NEW instruments in the hands of students at Alexandria Middle Magnent School.
FunktoberFest is an AMAZING event and will continue to grow. Last year, we had 11 Home Brewers from Louisiana and Texas along with Broken Wheel Brewery of Marksville, Flying Heart Brewery of Bossier and Red River Brewery of Shreveport. This year my goal is to expand these numbers.
During the event, we will have a Brewer's Choice and a People's Choice Award. Last Year, the People's Choice was Eden Moran from Alexandria and the Brewer's Choice was Jim Cox from Laffayette of the Dead Yeast Society. These men did a GREAT job and we look forward to having them back again this year!
Please email ( alexandriafunktoberfest@gmail.com) me for an application for you to fill out and send back if you or your club would like to participate. Please present this at your next meeting. We would LOVE to have you.
Facts:
Entry to Funktoberfest - Each Brewer must bring 5 gallons for entry and 1 helper. If coming as a club, 5 gallons = 1 entry and 1 helper. Please email me if more than 10 in a club.
Must bring own tent to set up. If you are a single, we can arrange for multiple singles to be under 1 tent to avoid multiple singles, which can also lead to meet and greet
Must be set up by 12:00 the day of the event. You can set up tent, tables, etc the day before.
We are trying to work on Hotel discounts and can send those links.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. I look forward to working with any of you who may be interested in Funktoberfest. I promise, you will NOT want to miss out!
Thank you,
Laura Ann Parks
