Not to piss in your cornflakes, John, but I've had terrible luck with those cheapo digital thermometers over the years. I'll typically get maybe three to four batches out of them before they crap out. If anyone's looking for the next step up in temperature measurement, I'd recommend getting a good thermocouple thermometer. I bought one a few weeks back and it is fantastic. I'm going to hardpipe in some connectors that allow me to measure my mash temperature at two different places in my MLT, as well as the recirculation temperature out of my pump and out of my plate chiller as well.
