I return as an agitator. At the last meeting we payed some club member $50.00 + for a club beer. On our trip to Houston to deliver club beers (at only volunteering enterers helping Doug pay for his gas cost, no help from the club), I ask Doug about members brewing club beers. His comments were that the cost the club payed was for for 5 gallons. I don't remember who got payed $50.00, but my guess is that all club members do not agree with giving excessive club funds away. Doug and I brewed a 90 minute IPA at the last brew-in, with 38 lbs of grain, 1/2 lb of hops and yeast; My recollection is that the total cost for a 1.09 IG beer was under $50:00. Now we are paying that for 5 gallons. Either the person who gave the bill is not on the same wave as Doug, or they want the club to pay their full cost of 10 gallons, with them taking 5. I have no problem either way. I just want that members agree on the benefits of brewing club beers. I was going to suggest we brew a 5 gallon beer for the club in my system at the same time Doug and I and others brew 10 gallons of a 1.10 o.g. beer, split four ways, 20 gallons of beer with an o.g. of over 1.05 But, if we brew the primry as a club beer and only give the club 1/4 of our brew as a club beer, the club will be the looser, paying about the same as we did at the meeting and club members take 3/4 of the beer.
I also suggested to Doug that the beer we entered for Corey go in under the name GTHC. This was because of all the problems that we had with this beer. I made 4 trips to Daves, Doug made 3, and Dave stayed late on at least two occasions. The club payed for the entree; the club should get any award unless Corey comes forth with $9:00 before results are in (the extra $2:00 are for Doug's,Dave's, and my efforts (and delivery), going to the club. If Corey agrees, I suggest any award be posted above Dave's freezer, along with future entrees the club enters.
