Doug & I brewed 12 gallons of a Texas brown ale today with an IG of 1.080. We split it into 3 carboys, one for John Cotten who I hoped would be able to make it by. We smoked a few cigars, drank a few light beers, ate some good food and brewed beer. We did not send out a notice because we only decided to brew today on Friday evening. It was a long day, starting for me at 7:30, weighing the grains and crushing them before heading to Doug's and getting home after 6:00 pm. I still had to go to the store for water to dilute the concentrated beer down from an Imperial Brown to a normal one. It was a fun day.

I'll rack the brown ale tomorrow and add a gallon of water. Should bring it down to about .065. Still fermenting nicely. The blueberry weizenbock is starting to taste pretty good now. Bob said the twaing is the astringency from the steamed juice from the blueberrys. Starting to loose some of that twaing. Still has a lot of body and cloudy, guess with the wheat and blueberrys it may stay that way. I dropped of John's beer today. He'll probably rack this weekend also. Ira said he bottled his wheat beer and made a Jalapeno Weisenbock. Added the juice of three jalapeno's. He's pretty excited about it.
