Talked to Ira tonite. He can't make it to the next meeting and pretty busy on the weekends. Very busy that month. He is making it to the Renaisance Festival though the last weekend in Oct.
Susie D and Susan K would like to attend and have the meeting at Mark and Susan K's house on Saturday, Oct 20, the Saturday after the 3rd Thursday. I'm thinking it would be in the afternoon, ie 2-6. Mark will let us know if the pool is still available. All spouses, family, and friends are of course welcome I'm sure. Let me know here of any objections or call at 7223748.

Since the hurricane disrupted the September meeting and October will be a special meeting considering everything that has transpired, I was thinking about a special cigar like the Gurkha Centurian Perfecto for the October meeting. To me thats always been a special occasion cigar. Besides, I'm always looking for more guys to smoke cigars with. If anyone wants one let me know. Considering the circumstances I'll cover the cost above $5 a stick. Fitting tributes and all.

why are we having the meeting on a saturday? from 2-6? Is it because a few of us are going to GABF? Just curious to the reason for the change......

The reason for having the meeting moved to Saturday afternoon was to allow all of the beer club (including spouses) to get together to have our own celebration of Mikey's life. We had previously agreed to move the meeting to the 18th because so many members (including three of the four officers) were going to the GABF. Some club members suggested that we should remember Mike the way we knew him, with a good beer (or two) and a favorite smoke. We thought we'd have an expanded slide show with more pictures of brew-ins, etc than were previously seen and tell tall tales (and lies) of things we remember about Mike. Having been at Dixie Cup on Saturday a couple of times, I think we'll have a much better afternoon here. I am open to placing this meeting anywhere; if anyone can recommend a better or more appropriate place for our get together, please offer it and we'll do it there.
