Did you say you have a leather shop? If so, I have a western belt that is now too long since I lost my pregnant looking belly. I want to hire you to add a hole and trim it proper. Is that something you can do tomorrow if you come by, if not I can run by your shop.
Let me know.

It is not a fancy belt at all. The end is just cut. nothing special. You should be able to do it easy

Looking at making a renaisance costume, mainly of leather. Do you have any pictures to go by.

well what kind of outfit are you talking about Armor, Jester, or fantasy but i don't really have any pics of anything like that and mainly the armor doesn't come cheap and if its armor you want do you need SCA or LARP style armors these armors are usable and practical for competition and a bit more expensive but I can do whatever roman, (Visintine) or any other era of the romans, Celt or fantastical whatever, the best thing would be probably look at some other web sites that offer what your looking for then we can get together and come up with a design that you would like or you can draw something up yourself and I guaranty I will beet anybodies price by a long shot for my friends

COOL! Raybo and i were talking about have you do some leather work. Not sure if I could afford it, but since my Linage is from Scotland, I would like to one day have the breast armor and straps for a William Wallace costume since my Sir name first appeared in writing in Inverness Scotland in the 1400's I hope to have something by the Competition at Saint Arnold's Jan 27th, but with Christmas it may not happen. The 51 1/4" 2-handed Scottish Claymore Sword costs $50 plus shipping www.ebladestore.com/knives/PA1064.html?source=froogleI would have to buy a kilt also, leather forearm and shin armor would look cool too, but I would not want it to cover my knobby knees! ;D I think it would work for ant big beer event and renesance! And St. Arnold pub crawls minus the Big Ass Sword! Hell, I need an ugly ass wild wig too! Getting expensive.

ok well actually the breast plate you are looking for is called a Brigandines which would run upwards of 399.00 because there is an underlying or sandwich if you will of either leather or steel beetween layers of suede but for your purpose cheaper and more comfortable i think just one layer and a liner should be fine and the leggings you are talking about are called (the upper)cuisse and (the lower) is the greaves and the knee is called the knee cop and what i think you want are more of a roman style greaves but they do have all one piece with the knees um and if you look in to it I believe it would look and feel better with the knees attached they run about 80.00 a pair and the forearm is called a pauldron and i think to match the greaves a viking derivative of the roman style manica is what your looking for not only will it match the greaves but its a celtic/norse design which run about 299.00 each but you should only need one for your sword hand the celts only wore one on one side because they had a shield in the other hand with that said these prices are every day prices you will find on the internet and are usable armor but we can make something more practical way cheaper it wont stop a sword or arrow but would look really cool I would have to take messurments of you before i can give you a serious price but i'm thinking around 3-4 hundred for everything depending how plain or fancy you want it. I'm Scottish too I was born in Aberdeen Scotland

I got to thinking about it and I think to make it cheaper and also if your going for a brave heart look, i dont think he wore leg armor he wore the kilt and I think either long rabbit hair boots or long socks I cant really remember but even if not I think it would be something to think about like some knee high rabbit skin boots with leather straps wrapped around them that would look cool and yes I can make those too, like just make them where they fit over and cover up whatever shoes you want to wear under them and they could strap around the bottom of your shoe it would be comfortable and look more period like or brave heart like. well anyway something to think about

Hey BM, sorry to wait so long to get back. I am thinking about doing this in stages. Not a lot of money to spend as 1 Bad Brewer is pressuring me to get a big screen TV/Monitor for the BrewCrAzY Studio (The Queen Says NO!) anyway I hope to have a big screen TV in here tomorrow Any way. I will sew up the kilt & top myself, but if you could help me make the sholder strap that holds the 64" sword on my back and maybe the boots, that would be great. I think that should be enough for the St. Arnold's cook Off. I was hoping there would be a Golden Triangle Homebrewers Club specific team. I guess BrewCrAzY will have to represent them. I Know Mark Kelly is a Hell of a cook. But the King, Raybo, 1 bad Brewer, Candase and I are going to win any way But second place gets a little prize too. LOL

Okay, "push in the bush master,"
I will go ahead and order the sword so I can get it in so you can build the shoulder harness for it. I assume it will hang behind my right shoulder. Also, what do you need from me so you can get the stuff for the furry rabbit skin boots. Would real rabbit fur be better? And at minimun I will also need a belt for my kilt.
If I can swing it, I may get the Brigantines also, but I am sure that will cost the most and require the most work from you. For the record, I want you to make your normal profit from me. Maybe I can get the for-arm armor. It does not have to be authentic, just look cool! I will give you a ring.
And where can I get a freekin wig like that!

hey johnny Ive been really looking into the sheath for the claymore and if you want it to look just like the one in the pic you will need the Brigandines first because the sheath actually ties into it thats what holds it in place with that very heavy weapon on your back so we could do something like where it ties into a belt or something i got the idea from making western style shotgun holsters that go on your back they have a basically to belts one goes around your waist and the other up to your shoulder something to think about

it does look like there is a strap in the center of the chest that goes through shoulder strap for the claymore sheath. I was thinking I could connect the sheath to the shoulder strap and the top and bottom at my lower back to keep it from sliding down. I am waiting for some money to come in, so I can get you started. I know we are running out of time. Where can I get hair like that!

I almost ordered one on eBay last night that was 54" long for $19.99 but the shipping was $25 They had a 42" for $15, but that was too small, so I did not bid on it. I will sew the kilt by hand. I don't want it to look like it was sewed on a machine.

Jason, since your source for the claymore sword fell through I bid on a sword just now. I will know tomorrow if I got it and I also bid on a long haired wig, LOL. If I get the sword I did not like the shoulder strap, so that is something I need to add to what you make at a minimum. I will be off from this Friday the 21st until Jan 7th. I will get with you asap so we can get the measurement and give you money to get the leather. I will at the least have my Renaissance costume and I want to wear it armature night at the Great American Beer Festival! But first, I need it for the St Arnold cook off.
