The new system ran very well on its maiden batch. The filter than Brian put in to replace the false bottom worked very well; I was able to set the bed in less than 5 minutes. I cooled both carboys down to about 65 degress before I pitched the yeast late on Sunday. It's been holding at 65-67 deg and fermenting at a steady rate. So far, so good.
