Poor Club Treatment

We screwed up at the last meeting. We had two events on the floor that needed immediate attention, the next brew-in and the crayfish boil, neither date or location was fixed; one will occur before the next meeting, the other two days later.

I offered my house for the next brew-in several months ago, with the stipulation that I may have to move it one week, either way. I posted well before the last meeting that I had another commitment the 1st Saturday in May, but would host the next Saturday, not recognizing that that was Mother's day wekend (no one pointed this out to me at the last meeting). Ira offered his shop immediately. He repeated his offer at the last meeting. Ira has not missed a meeting that I am aware of. His shortest travel was the March meeting at my house, 60 miles round trip. He usually travel twice this to meetings. However, someone didn't like the idea of them traveling that far and suggested looking into another site. This was approved, but no one has reported on an alternate site. It looks like this National Home brewers Day will be a bigger disaster than last years. Mark has already brewed, Eric & Richard & I will brew this weekend at Richard's house.

The next item is the crawfish boil. A location should have been decided at the last meeting or taken care of within a few days. Crawfish prices have dropped dramatically (Market Basket is advertising them at $1.19/lb). We didn't pick any one to head up the boil and purchase crayfish. I hope our officers contact Roney and see if he can do it.

I can't do anything about NHB day, but today I called Dean about the spring event. I think we abused his friendship with a non-member in Port Aurther by asking him to try to have our spring event there. I got a similar response from Dean. Dean has commitments that rules out his house. However, he called Raybo, and Ray called back, agreeing to host our spring event at his house on May 18. Hopefully, crayfish prices will still be low; if not, we have two award winning meat cookers in the club. Hopefully, Ronney will give us a price at the next meeting.

I understand some of your concerns, but postings as inflammatory as yours are do not help things. This is not the place to air our dirty laundry, as you well know. We should probably post an agenda for the meeting about a week ahead of time so we can make sure that everything gets covered in the meeting. I agree that NHB Day hasn't worked out well. I still plan to brew within the next two weeks. I am game to go to Ira's if that's where we decide to go. First we need a head count to see who is planning to brew on May 2nd, then let's set a location. I will catch Corey, John C and Jason this weekend. With luck, others will reply to this message.

As for the crawfish boil, I had no idea that we as a club stepped on anyone's toes, for that, I'm sorry. We will have to deal with the decision whether to go with crawfish or something else before the next meeting; the meeting is on the 14th and the gathering is on the 16th. We had set the next FART for Beaumont, I suggest that if we can get enough people together there, we can decide something there.

The third thing we need to settle is when the FART is. Normally it is on the first Friday, which falls six days before our meeting. This month, the first is a Friday. I suggests that we aim for May 8th at the Beaumont Buffalo Wild Wings. If you have an opinion pro or con, let's discuss (civilly) on the site or by telephone.

you know I couldnt keep out too long but hey I am out of this, but I am game for a brew withstanding unforeseen circumstance, and I really don't care when or where F.A.R.T is unless see above
