Dear Saint Arnold's Army:
First of all, if you were one of the many who sought Divine Reserve No. 8 only
to find it had already sold out, we're sorry. This was our largest batch ever
of a Divine Reserve, and until we get into the new brewery, we can't make them
any larger. And we can't devote more fermenters to these special batches
without running out of our regular beers. Ronnie Crocker's nice article on us
in the Houston Chronicle probably increased the number of people seeking DR8
too.
If you are curious how Divine Reserve gets distributed: we ship it to our
distributors who then allocate it to accounts on the basis of how much Saint
Arnold beer they have sold over the past 6 months. In the Houston area, it ends
up being limited to about the top 120 stores. If anybody has an idea for a
better method, please let us know.
GALVESTON PUB CRAWL THIS SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 19
Galveston didn't like Ike. But a year has passed and the island is looking
better and better. Come help celebrate the return of Galveston this Saturday
with our 2nd Annual Pub Crawl on the Island. The crawl will start at 4 PM. We
will utilize our "open house" schedule for the first 3 stops. This means that
we will be signing tickets at all of the first three stops for three hours so
you can enjoy a beer at each one without being rushed or crushed. You will get
your ticket at whichever stop you decide to visit first. But, VERY IMPORTANT,
we will only be handing out the tickets between 4 PM and 5 PM so try to be there
for the start at 4 PM. Then, at 7 PM, everybody will gather at one final stop
and that is where we will award the glasses. The prize for making all four
stops will be our pub crawl pint glass. We will have a large but limited supply
of glasses. And as always, designated drivers are both eligible for the award
and encouraged to attend! So here is the la
yout and our vague directions:
The first three stops:
Will all be on Post Office between 20th St. and Moody St.
The final stop:
7 PM: Proceed down Post Office to Kempner St., turn right and go about 2 blocks
to 215 Kempner St..This establishment offers pizza and pub grub too.
Remember that cash is helpful, be kind to your waitstaff, and always, always
appear in public enjoying a Saint Arnold. We hold those that arrange for
transportation to and from or use designated drivers in the highest regard!
If you get hungry during the crawl, some other food options (not crawl stops)
are the Stork Club on Post Office (one block west of the crawl) and The Gumbo
Bar, next door to the Stork Club.
Showing up early and want to hit the beach? Woody's Bar is located out west at 7
1/2 Mile Rd. Great place for a cold beer and great view of the gulf.
