I'm sorry I missed the Christmas party. It sounded like a great event. For the next brew-in, I'm going to suggest to Eric that Doug, me, Richard, and Eric brew two beers; a steam beer (as proposed for the spring event) an an Alt. These beers are similar (sometimes lump together for competition). In the club systems, we generally can get about 12 gallons. With 2 we will get enough beer - with the starter - for 25 gallons, one for the club, and one for each brewer. The steam beer and the other beer, an Alt, will be fermented different. We will end up with a great beer for the spring event, and 5 gallons each. This will minimize the cost to the club. I am willing to spend a few minutes at the next meeting talking about steam beers.

Bob,
If this is ok with Doug, it is fine with Richard and I. It would be good if we could coordinate brewing with the people who don't own systems to pair off with someone who has one in order to brew more beer.
Lets make this an item for discussion at the January meeting. If you plan on brewing and would like to brew 10 or more gallons to split with a partner that does not own a system please post here. Thanks in advance.

I like that idea. Cause I don't have a setup like these other folks. I use one pot! LOL I will be looking forward to the brew in.

Don't knock the 5 gallon pot thing. I remember when I went over to St. Arnold's to brew on homebrrewer's Day (about 20 to 30 homrewers brewing) and I saw Mike Henniff cooking on a pot with a gott cooler mash tun. Mike is probably one of the most medal winning people in Houston.
