they say there going to open another bar there eventually with lots of beers on tap and in bottle Major League Grill, 4430 Dowlen Road (in the Crossroads shopping center)
Major League Grill could become Southeast Texas sports fans' favorite hangout.
The 14,000 square foot restaurant - which includes a grill, sports bar and outdoor dining area - is set to open in early November. A private club and steakhouse should open about four months after that, said co-owner Derek Diaz.
Diaz said the restaurant will offer something for everyone. The front dining area will be a casual restaurant with booths lining two walls. Above the booths will be mounted plasma televisions. Diaz said sometimes those televisions will show scrolling pictures and sometimes will show sports.
Behind that casual dining area will be a sports bar called "One Five Park," a tribute to former Lamar University Cardinal and current Major League Baseball player Kevin Millar. Millar is a partner in the restaurant, as is Millar's family and Diaz's brother, Beaumont radiologist Dr. Greg Diaz.
"It will feel like you're entering Kevin's stadium," Derek Diaz said of the sports bar.
The bar area will have booths, tables, and dozens of plasma televisions hanging from the ceilings. Televisions also will line the back wall of the bar area, Diaz said.
"One Five Park" will offer 36 beers on draft and about 70 different bottled beers to choose from, Diaz said. All will be kept in a 29-degree cooler.
The menu selection will be wide Diaz said, with choices including chicken wings, pasta, salad, barbecue, fried catfish, chicken fried steak and pickle chips. An average meal will cost between $13 and $15, Diaz said.
"It's going to be something the town hasn't seen," Diaz said. "But I think the town deserves it, and it's not going to be priced at something the town turns their head at."

well went there today and had lunch, Brandon East was there so was ch12 kbmt, well i must say the prices are kinda high got a 22oz noble pils it was $9.75 but all together lunch with appetizer and the beer was about $35 and the menu is not "wide selection" they have burgers, poboys, wings, salads and some appetizers and thats about it beer selection is o.k. they had maybe 10 taps not including swill and some bottled beer, about the same bottle selection of spindel top steak house and the food portions are small I give it a 3 out of 5 stars and only that high because of all the screens and stuff

I will add my two cents. McKissack and myself went there two nights ago. I saw the left hand milk stout on tap and asked for it. He looked at me like I had three heads. I repeated myself again and again. Eventually, I had to point to the tap. Well 16 oz cost me $7.50. After that beer, we went to Madison's and then to Buffallo Wild Wings. They did have a few beers I hadn't tried yet like the alien ale. I did price the 100 oz bear bong - $42. The same amount of beer in 16 oz glasses was around 47-48, not much of a break in price. I asked him if he had a happy hour, He said nope, nada, not in the plans. I think they are pricing theirselves out of the Vidorian market.

Our options on FART night are never going to be many because the market just isn't there. I think the issue with Major League Grill is going to resolve itself shortly because by all accounts, the place is not going to make it. Its main goal was to be open for baseball season, but I doubt they will make it to the World Series. I was under the impression it was a sports bar/brew pub concept, but I think they are selling themselves as a high end establishment, which we all know don't make it in Beaumont. In my estimation, the only way we are ever going to get FART to be a regular event is to find someplace that can be our regular haunt that will give us happy hour prices in exchange for our regular business. It is doubtful a chain like BWW or Pappadeaux's would give us any break because they are a chain and they don't have to, although I would be willing to approach either of them at this point if it means having a regular place. Sandersons might give us a break because they are local, but they are pretty far away from most of our base so that may not be feasible. If the Vidor people would be willing to go to Nederland, Everett might do something for us, but that may be alot to ask for Ray and others to drive. Again, we are back to trying to decide whether this is a worthwhile endeavor going forward. Open to any and all suggestions at this point. If someone has an idea, now is the time.

well BWW we usually have a descent showing atleast beer selection is lacking at best and they do have happy hour till 7pm but other than that I did like the trade winds they have a great selection and prices werent that bad, nice places to sit and watch the huge big screen it may be a bit out of the way for vidor but its all freeway for all but I think we would have a better chance getting a small place like that to work with us and there is a resturaunt rite next to it i bet they serve to the bar

I suggest that we start going to the beer/food pairings on Crockett Street instead of BWW for a while. Although they are on Tuesday evenings (5-7 or so), the food is good and the beer is reasonable. We went to Major League Grill Saturday night and found their beer/wine prices ridiculously high; $10.50 for a small glass of wine and $10.00 for 23 oz of Left Hand Milk Stout. Neither Saucer nor Gingerman in Houston come close to being this high. Their food was OK, but a little on the high price side. I agree with Eric in that MLG will not see the end of the baseball season if they don't do something different soon. Comments?

I've never thought Crockett Street was a bad idea, its just hard to shake free in the middle of the week, especially early in the week. I have not been to Crockett Street in years. I was under the impression that most of the places had shut down a while back. Any chance one of those places might want our business bad enough to give us some kind of Friday afternoon deal? Probably worth asking anyway.

Not that these aren't good ideas, but am I the only one who has figured out that the only way we could legally bring one of our kegs and hook it up to the taps at one of these places is if they gave the beer away, which a licensee can't do in the State of Texas. Not only that, all of these places sign agreements with the distributors to only carry certain brews and not compete with each other, that is how they get their deals. And, I don't even want to get into the potential liability issues. As much as it sounds like a great idea, the chances of us ever getting able to hook up one of our kegs in a commercial establishment are slim and none. Sorry for the downer, thats just the way it works.

well you must have misinterpreted me I meant I have been bringing the owner bottles of stuff for awhile so I am in good with him and he would be willing to work with us as far as maybe letting us name some beers we would like to see in his selection and maybe work on prices with us since its a friday and I have talked about getting our beer into places but we'll talk about that another time
