I'm going to put this out there for discussion. If I'm the only one who has this opinion, let me know and I will consider it a non-issue.
I really don't like the Facebook idea. I'm not on Facebook and don't plan on being there any time soon, but it has nothing to do with Facebook in particular either. I just think we are getting way too spread out. At this point we have an old msn board that we can't get rid of, we have a website that is controlled by the honeyman that we can't get rid of, we have this board that we are going to have to migrate to the new website when it gets going and now we have Facebook. I just think thats too much. And I would rather have something that we can control. The whole purpose of the new website was to have a good public front page with some information on it and a back room for the club. It just seems like it would make more sense for us to put the effort into getting the new website going than to get spread out on Facebook.
I think the other, and maybe bigger problem, is we have events on Facebook we run the risk of having a whole bunch of people we don't know just show up everytime. That is what we are trying to avoid. I feel like we have rid ourselves of the drama that has plagued us in the past. I think that the new people who are showing up will truly make good additions to the club and I hope they stick around.
Anyway, this is just my opinion for what its worth so if I am the only one who feels this way, let me know and the will of the club will control. That is all.

well I have had a great response on Face book better than on here we do have a few people like Charlie papazian, john palmer, and other beer celebrities and some of my friends on there but the only people that I or any CLUB member allows to be there can see anything you cant just go on face book and see our stuff an admin has to allow you to be there so the only people that gets invites to events are club members or a select list of people it is completely "controllable" and its a quick and easy way for club members to post pics and for me the news letter and we have members that only go on face book like JoeK and Brandon E

Jason,
I'm not disagreeing with you.
If that's what the club wants then I guess that is what we will have.
I just don't think its a good idea. The club voted to get a new website, not to have a Facebook page.
If the club wants to dump the new website and go with Facebook, I suppose that is fine, but there are several members of the club that aren't members of Myspace, Facebook or whatever comes next and never will be. If the club had some say, we probably would not have all the old dead remnants of websites that are currently floating around.
But again, this is only my opinion. Whatever the club decides, the club decides.

Ok, here is my opinion, since you asked.
I come to this site nightly if I have the time and as you can see by my posting time, I had a busy night with the Knights of Columbus. I also try to hit facebook too. Jason is doing a great job with keeping up with the minutes of the club on this website and keeping us updated with facebook. I am the kind of person that needs to be reminded twice about something. One of my faults. The brewclub site and facebook is a way I get reminded twice. But, I think the brew club website should always take presidence over any other avenue of notification. If I had to choose between the two, it would be the website. Of course, I might think twice about facebook if I get my picture taken during one of our drunken brew ins and it is plastered all over facebook. Ugg. LOL.

well I think yall are misunderstanding nothing is plastered all over face book it is a private group for instance if you see a pic on your page only you can see it not all your friends, when I post it here then anybody can see it and I am not trying to replace any web site or anything it is only a group page not a web site, mainly it is just easier on me or any body who uses it, if I need to message every body or remind them of an event I can do it easily all in one go and I can RSVP everybody to that event so we have an idea of the number of attendee's and it is a way for members on there to instant message me or any member logged on in real time for answers to questions and all can be done from a cell phone thats mainly why its so popular, I have no problem with doing it im on there all the time anyway, I discussed this before I did anything with all the officers and some members everybody said I dont care most even said thats a great idea, but whatever I dont care anymore im done I have other shit I could be doing anyway

Jason,
You really need to stop taking all this stuff so personally because none of it is meant to be that way.
My opinion is just one of many and if the club wants to be on Facebook, the club will be on Facebook. I don't have any more say in this matter than anyone else does.
My point simply is that some of us, Richard, Bob and I in particular and maybe more, are not on Facebook and in all likelihood never will be and we don't want to have to go to more than one place to get information. I guess that is all I have to say.
