This is the 1'st of two posts, the second will be what members need to bring. I'm sure that I am not the only member planning to bring guest. My son from San Antonio is looking forward to attending (several club members know Allen (Laz). I also might invite a grandson and his date. I'm sure Mark will want to invite his sons and spouses, one was a former club member. Jason might invite two girl friends, one he should pay for.
Here is my suggestions on charges for guest:
Children 12 and under: no charge (paying for them will be addressed in part 2.
Male teens: $10-$12, they can eat more than any of us. Female teens: $8-$10, they are worried about their nails.
Male adults: $12-$15, they get crawfish and beer Female adults: $10- $12, again worried about their nails and waist.
Please respond with comments. I will plan on paying $34-$47 for my guests. Some exemptions: I hope our host will invite his twin - Gene- at no cost. Mark, Doug - and others - should reduce their payment because of major contributions to events during the last year.
I propose a bottle for members with guest to add money too. It will be completely on an honor system, I trust all member.

I agree, I actually made the comment that it was too much crawfish at the meeting 100-120 pounds sounds like plenty around 40 pounds fills up one cooler full of cooked crawfish but dont forget we need money for seasoning, corn, potatoes,ect so I suggest 200$ should cover everything

I disagree. We should buy 200 lbs of crawfish. Our membership has grown and there was not that much left over at the last boil (and all was used by the club at the Christmas party). I have no problems with no charge for club members immediate family, but I am adamant about charging guest (we don't want a member to invite his neighborhood for a free crawfish boil with beer.). I have no problem with paying a rerasonable cost for my guests, near what they would pay in a restaurant, why should anyone object?

Eric: you don't know the whole story about the last crawfish boil and I am going to give you only a part of it. Several members showed up early to help Ronney cook. By 3:00 ever one had had there fill of crawfish, and Ronney was ready to load up and go home. There was about 30 lbs left. I took about 2/3 of this, stating that I would take them home, peal them (along with the head fat, that makes the difference between a good and a great etoffie or gumbo), and Mark took the remainder. I left around 6:30. A former member - who had previously announce he had another event to attend that day - showed up - with extended family - and expected ctawfish. He was unhappy that all available crawfish was in Mark's cooler, and posted accusing me of "stealing his crawfish". I pealed the crawfish I took home and provided all for the Christmas party gumbo, 3 or 4 lbs.
A crawfish boil is an excellent club function. Those that are able to show up early work as a single team to produce the primary meat; such members cooperation only exist in this type of event.
Why should we limit our expenses when we have given a single member $150 that benefited only one member?
Eric: I don't remember any negative comments from you on purchasing 200 lbs. It was not recorded in the minutes, but the amount was agreed on at both the April and May meeting.

well I just made a comment to a few members either before or after the meeting about the amount, cant remember, doesnt matter. any way to clear up, last year we didnt do crawfish I bought a cooler of shrimp and caught a cooler of crabs and I think the club bought 20 or 30 pounds of the shrimp and the club members bought the rest, 2 years ago is when you are thinking of at Dean's but every body calm down I will call Jason (red) soon and see what kinda prices we can get its a little too early to call him now the way he was talking they may be any where from free to 150$ most likely around 100$ for 200 pounds at that price I dont think it really matters just do like always urge guest's to put 5$ in the jar if you got more put more if your broke thats just fine too no big deal thats my opinion anyway we wont have that many guest's

Jason: Do you really believe $5.00 is appropriate for guests. Let's say the crawfish cost $200; fixings (potatoes, corn, onions, spices, Fuel increases that to $250. Add an additional $50 for the beer the club supplies. Add at least $50 for alternate meat for children and non-crawfish eaters (hamburger's, hot dogs, charcoal, and accessories). That totals $350, almost $25 per member. I have not even included the cost of side dishes that members usually bring. Should quests pay less than members? OK, we may get the crawfish cheaper, but only thru the club. You want find crawfish at retail locations for less than $1/lb. The benefit should be to the club, and not to quests.
